Project Title: Attachment Style and Childhood experiences in Psychosis/Bipolar Disorder and Healthy controls across the world (REC reference number: 07/H0805)

Dear Participant,

Many thanks for visiting our website (http://www.bipolarlab.com/attachment) and for having an interest in our study.

We are studying the attachment style and childhood experiences of people who have a history of psychosis or bipolar disorder and people who have no history of such mental health problems. Attachment style is a psychological term used to refer to the way people have learned to relate to the people they feel most close to, mainly from their experiences when they were young.

We also want to understand whether there are any cultural differences in the attachment styles and childhood experiences of people from different countries across the world. The internet gives us a unique opportunity to do so. A better understanding of how people tend to relate to significant others may help us to improve the experience of the clinical services people receive when in need and such findings can be applicable even to people who are currently well.

We understand that some people may have had a difficult childhood and some sensitive questions are being asked but we would like to reassure you that whatever experiences you wish to share with us will be treated with the utmost confidence. We keep all our records entirely anonymous and confidential.

You will not need to provide any identifying information at all. You will be notified about our final group report from our website: http://www.bipolarlab.com/attachment and our facebook group that you are also welcome to join: http://facebook.bipolarlab.com

If you wish to participate please read the information sheet and provide your consent in order to continue with the web-survey.
